The Enmore Facility

Built to manufacture in Guyana

GKB's operations are anchored at Enmore, East Coast Demerara, on roughly 55 acres of former Enmore Sugar Estate land. What was agricultural infrastructure is now an oilfield manufacturing complex.

GKB was established in 2020, ahead of Guyana's Local Content Act of 2021, and Enmore is where that early commitment took physical form: Guyana's first advanced oilfield manufacturing complex.

The conversion was deliberate. Guyana's energy sector needed industrial capacity inside the country, and the land, the workforce and the demand were all in the same place. Tens of millions of US dollars have been invested in the site, and more than 100 skilled jobs have been created to date.

The purpose of the facility is straightforward: manufacture, machine and repair oilfield equipment in Guyana, so that operators are not waiting on a supply chain that runs through another hemisphere.

The only dedicated plating line in South America

Enmore runs the only dedicated plating line in South America.

Surface treatment is part of whether a connection works. Phosphate coatings carry thread compound and resist galling on makeup, and plated finishes meet specific connection requirements. Before Enmore, connections needing that treatment left Guyana and came back weeks later.

Now the treatment happens on the same site as the threading. The pipe does not leave the country, and the schedule does not depend on someone else's shipping lane.

  • Manganese phosphating
  • Brush copper plating, SIFCO method
  • Abrasive blast, aluminum oxide
  • Clear plate coating under JFE license

Advanced CNC machining

The machining capability at Enmore is built to international oilfield standards, which is what allows GKB to hold thread licenses from JFE Steel, Tenaris and NOV Grant Prideco.

A licensed connection means the licensor has qualified GKB's equipment, its people and its process to cut that thread. Work that would otherwise leave Guyana stays here because the qualification is here.

The floor runs {principal machines}, served by overhead cranes to {crane capacity}.

Material on the ground before it is needed

GKB pre-stocks critical material at Enmore rather than ordering it when a job lands.

This is a deliberate response to how global supply chains have behaved in recent years. A facility that holds material can start work when the customer needs work started. A facility that orders on demand inherits every delay upstream of it, and passes that delay to the rig.

Built in phases

Enmore was planned in phases, with four buildings scaling manufacturing output and service capacity. Each phase adds capability that did not previously exist anywhere in the country.

Today {buildings in operation} of the four are in operation.

What this changes for operators

Guyana is among the fastest growing oil producing nations in the world, on the back of the Stabroek Block discoveries by ExxonMobil, Hess and CNOOC. Production is scaling, and with it the demand for manufacturing, machining and component supply inside the country.

Every job performed at Enmore is a job that does not require an export, an import and two ocean crossings. That shortens lead times, lowers cost and keeps the economic value in Guyana. It is also what the country's local content framework was designed to produce.
